Hair Maintenance

You may feel like everyday’s a struggle with 4C hair, but we’re stepping in to assure you it’s not! Sure it requires more care since it is delicate, wiry and tightly coiled, but not rocket science to manage. We know how much you love your natural, springy and kinky texture, so let us help you fortify it.
There is nothing like preparing your hair with a pre-poo technique especially since the entire wash regime can be a very rough one for 4C hair. Apply coconut oil or jojoba based oil. You can try Dr. Miracle’s Follicle Healer Energizing System Hydrating Oil for its blend of oils and shea butter will help nourish your hair and make detangling easier. For best results for 4C hair, also spray on some Dr. Miracle’s Scalp Care Detoxifying Pre-Shampoo Mist.
4C hair is very delicate and since your aim is fewer tangles and less breakage, wash your hair in sections. Try sectioning your hair into 4-6 sections that are first detangled and then twisted or braided. Remove one twist at a time and wash that particular section only. Then re-twist it again. Do this with all your sections.
We all know a good sulphate-free shampoo is for cleaning the scalp off the dirt and excessive product build up. Since 4C hair is drier you can co-wash with a conditioner too! The kinky textured hair responds beautifully to conditioners with ingredients like Shea Butter which hydrate and improves the porosity of the hair. We generally follow this up with ProfectiV Mega Growth Stimulating Shampoo which seems to work well as it is a good sulphate free shampoo.
The joys of a good conditioner are priceless, no? While a good conditioner is a mandate for every wash, deep conditioning once a week is all the restorative therapy your hair needs. Conditioners like Dr. Miracle’s Regular Deep Hair Conditioner are the secret to springy coils that you’ve always craved! We suggest you deep treat your hair at least once a week and let it sit for 30 mins. If you really want to indulge in deep conditioning, you can also try Argan Miracle Deep Conditioning Masque.
The ends of 4C hair are extra fragile and on their own, need a daily dose of moisture too. When in doubt, invest in the African Pride Shea Miracle Moisture Intense Leave-In Conditioner. Its Shea butter rich formula makes detangling so easy-breezy and will also smooth out all the frizz, leaving your curls with the ultimate definition.
Anything can flourish with love and care and so can your dry hair! Adopt practices like using microfiber towels to dry your hair. This will reduce breakage and make detangling easier. Also post your wash routine, wear your hair in protective styles like twist outs. This ensures good hair growth and reduces shrinkage.
