Celebrity Hairstyles

Illuminating, thought-provoking, fiercely ambitious…All words that can be used to aptly describe Muthoni Drummer Queen. Or MDQ to her bevy of fans. The Kenyan lyricist does not confine her craft to Kenya alone. She has also travelled to Europe for shows. Her other accolades include recently being featured in Vogue as one of the interviewees of their article: The Kenyan Cool Girl’s Guide to Nairobi. Let us not forget her MTV Africa Music Awards nomination and the fact that she’s the Creative Director of one of Kenya’s biggest events: Blankets and Wine. Her chart-topping ballads go to show what happens when passion and relentlessness come together. In her YouTube Interview with Boiler Room, she rightly stated that the Kenyan music scene could do with some work but refuses to give up on it!
Now to her hair. This girl wears blue braids like she invented them. Let’s get into MDQ’s quirky hairstyles that make her…her.
These are twists with a twist. A blue twist to be exact! Here she wears twisted braids with a fringe embellished with Maasai beads hair accessories and a flower crown. The hair and outfit combination is out of this world.
Muthoni turned it out in these blue faux locs. She added a twist to them by wearing them in two buns and a flower crown. Once again the Maasai beads hair accessories made an appearance.
The blue locs here have been cut for a different look. Definitely one for the books! The stylist, Lucy Robi, did a marvellous job in synchronizing the colour of her outfit with her locs.
In this other photo you see MDQ attending Blankets and Wine in the same short blue faux locs but this time added an intricate beaded Maasai headpiece and elegant pearls. We approve Muthoni. We approve!
The Soft Dread Braid by Darling has really been popular and MDQ was not left behind. She wears this braid in different ways :
Free and Flowy
She wore the Soft Dreads in a simple style and adding a hair accessory to it. Peep the outfit. The French will say, ‘’Très chic!’’
Cuffed Pigtails
This photoshoot she looks stunning. Props to the crew. Her hair was up in two pigtails cuffed with bands at different points.
Half Bun/Half Down
Same photo shoot, different styling. The Soft Dreads were made into a bun at the front and let to flow at the back. A flower crown was worn for added glory!

Side-Shaved
Muthoni has perfected this do. She’s been wearing it for a while and she has almost become synonymous with it. On a number of occasions, she’s worn the Soft Dread braid on the portion of her head that isn’t shaved.
