Every once in a while we come across things that make us all giddy inside. This time, it’s knotless braids. This method of braiding has been around since the early 2000’s but has taken over and gone mainstream just recently. We think it’s time for you to go knotless. But what are knotless braids? Is it a bird? Is it a plane? No. It’s box braids 4.0. When your stylist does traditional box braids, they connect the braid to the hair with a knot. Not with knotless braids! Knotless braids involve braiding the hair from the scalp then feeding in braids in the middle. Some knotless methods include feeding in once, some feed in twice and some even 3 times!
Why are knotless braids favoured by celebrities and non-celebs alike? 3 reasons:
Truth be told, everything has its pros and cons. The cons of knotless braids are that it is quite expensive since it is a special kind of technique. But if you have the money to fork over, then go ahead. You are definitely doing yourself a great service by opting for knotless braids.
Another reason why people may not easily choose knotless braids is that they are time-consuming to install. A good stylist will be frank with you and will tell you that installation may take up to a day.
So what must you do to ensure you achieve the perfect knotless braids? You must wash your hair then blow-dry or straighten it. Black Hair Hub hair stylists suggest using 5 packs of the Darling Xpression braid for its lightweight nature and amazing texture.
