How You May Be Causing Hair Breakage

I’m not saying it’s your fault, but it’s your fault.  Do you experience serious hair breakage? How much hair do you see on the floor or on your comb? This must be the most frustrating thing. Breakage means that your hair will not grow the way you want it to. Breakage makes one feel like their hair is not growing. Breakage means less volume. But you could be causing the breakage. How?

1. Over-manipulation

The song of manipulation has been sung all over again, but for a reason. Manipulating hair, always combing, blow-drying, twisting, braiding, combing again, prodding here and there, playing with it. These actions lead to hair breakage. Some natural haired beauties do not comb their hair under any circumstances. They do a lot of protective styling and their hair thrives. Avoid doing too much with your hair. You will love the results.

2. Not Detangling

Are you guilty of this? If you skip this step you will end up with knots, breakage and a whole lot of tears. Do you just not have the time to detangle? Breakage meet reader.  Reader meet breakage. My hair used to break a lot because I never used to detangle. I just used to shampoo and brush using a paddle brush, lying to myself and creating knots. Detangle to reduce and avoid breakage altogether. The Just for Me Natural Hair Milk Detangler is a great detangler to use. With a specific blend of ingredients, this detangler will detangle even the toughest of knots.

3. Failing to Trim Your Hair

Trimming is a necessary evil. Holding on to thin ends is like holding on to a bad relationship. You don’t want to let it go but you have to, because it’s not good for you. You need to trim so that your hair thrives.

4. Failing to Maintain the Moisture/Protein Balance

Hair needs both moisture and protein. Moisture is found in moisturizing deep conditioners. Moisturizing conditioners make the hair flexible. But too much moisture makes the hair weak which makes it break. This is where you need a protein conditioner. Protein comes in to reinforce the hair shaft. But using too much protein will make the hair stuff and break. Use moisturizing conditioner often but use a protein conditioner once a month to stop breakage.

Now you know what NOT to do. Make hair breakage a thing of the past!
