Honestly, we’d like a whole movie around Halle Berry’s gorgeous golden braid! Everything about Halle Berry’s look at the 2017 Toronto International Film Festival was talk-worthy. But what deserves every ounce of our attention is her towering braided ponytail. Look at it from the front and you’d think it was a simple top knot. Pan to the profile and you’re in for a stunning surprise in the form of her golden braided ponytail, perfectly showing off her undercut. If these aren’t hair goals, we don’t know what are!
Get with us, follow these simple steps and see if you can crack this iconic style.
Prep: For this look, prep your clean hair with a leave-in conditioner to avoid fly-aways and frizz.
Style: If you want the exact look, it’s time you step up and get an undercut as bold as the Bond beauty. But if you’re chickening out (we won’t say we knew you would) you’re lucky, we’ve got a Plan B. Take in all your hair into a clean high ponytail and tie it up. Once tightly secured, start braiding the ponytail into a thick braid, going thinner as you go down.
If you’ve got short hair, you will need loose hair extensions that can be braided in. Get the Darling Dazzler-Crystal weave to nail the style. Attach it to your hair, make a thick braid that goes thinner as you go down, then secure it with a band to create a seamless ponytail look.
Complete the Look: Once the braid is complete and secured with a thin, preferably invisible hairband, gently tug at the top of the braid to create a bun-like volume where the braid began. You know what a top-knot looks like – that’s what you want it to appear as from the front.
Use your favourite edge control to seal in any lose ends on your braided ponytail and keep it looking neat and stylized, while protecting it from any damage.
Now that you’re equipped with the secret hack, we’re sure you’ll be slaying it at your next party, Kingsman style! Need more celebrity hair inspo? Check out The Celebrity Afros We Are Swooning Over This Year.
