What do you do with all that extra TLC? You save it up and invest it in your Dreadlocks. Yes, they’re hand down high maintenance, girl! So much so, you’ll sure need to treat them like you’d treat your own li’l baby, giving them nourishment, time and attention and a whole lot of loving.
Now, just like regular hair, dreadlocks grow out and this regrowth needs to be seamlessly twisted into your existing locs. There are a number of ways to do this. Heard of Palm-rolling and interlocking? Yes? So here’s a disclaimer that this is going to be a faceoff between the two. Read on to get familiar with both the techniques and know which option would work best for you.
Palm rolling involves manipulating the new hair growth by using the palms of your hands to twist the new hair in a circular motion. Palm rolling is simpler to do than interlocking and requires less time. This technique is used for traditional locs. But first things first, before you start, make sure you do a good DC with a good deep conditioner to ensure through moisturization and avoid breakage. We suggest using Profectiv Mega Growth Deep Conditioner as it is enriched with goodness of coconut that helps strengthen, restore and replenish the hair.
The interlocking method requires you to pull the end of the loc through the root in order to tighten the new growth to the scalp. The biggest advantage of the interlocking method is that it prevents hair from unravelling for a long time. It is suited for all types of locs.
Essentially, both techniques are quite different and the best technique for your hair would depend on what your hair is like and what you’re most comfortable with.
