Bandika lines are super stylish and fancy braids, popular in Kenya. Read on to know how to install these lovelies!
This step sets the base for how your hairstyle will turn out. Cleanse out all the dirt, grime and product build-up. Condition your curly babies as they may be thirsty for moisture. Once damp, use a good oil-based leave-in cream as a sealant such as African Pride Moisture Miracle Coconut Oil & Baobab Oil Leave-In Cream to prevent moisture loss.
Once your hair is dry, let’s start braiding. Wait, hold on sistah! We’re missing a very important step. You’re going to need a styling cream to keep the hairstyle in place. The Motions Style and Create Versatile Foam Styling Lotion – as the name suggests, is truly one of the most versatile styling lotions that we’ve got our hands-on. The first cornrow you start with is a small one that would wrap around the outer end of your hair. Start working inwards. Once you’re done with cornrowing on one side, start with the other end. Leave the centre at the end. Continue to add cornrows to your entire head.
You’ll need a curved needle and a weave thread to get started. Start with the braid closest to your ear. Pull the needle through your braid and create a base knot. Now, take a string of Bandika lines and sew it in within the cavities until the ends are also completely sewn in. Repeat the process for the entire head. Finish with a setting spray and you’re done!
