Hair Care

Our biggest kink? Well, it’s in our curls. Natural Type 4 hair is kinky, curly, eccentric and also the most fragile of all hair types. To keep those curls cruising and in control, we’ve lined up tips to decrease their vulnerability to dryness and brittleness.
Swear on your hair to do a pre-poo every time you wash it. The pre-poo method involves applying some oil to your tresses and leaving it on for 15-30 minutes before washing. Use coconut oil to prevent excessive drying, that your hair is prone to, after a shampoo.
Knots are irritating and your hair can definitely do without ‘em. Prone to tangle-trouble, natural type 4 hair needs a particular routine for a shower. To avoid these snags, try to proceed section by section while shampooing and conditioning. The fewer the tangles and knots, the smaller the damage.
You can never moisturize enough. Especially with type 4 afro hair where dryness is inevitable. Keep handy any one product from moisturizing lotions, leave-in conditioners or moisturizing sprays in your survival kit when you leave home. This will keep giving your curls the moisture they command.
Kinky hair hates clingy products. Many a time, products like leave-in conditioners create an excessive build-up on your scalp devoid of pleasing or fresh sensorials. It further makes your tresses unfit to absorb moisture. Scrap that build-up using a cleansing shampoo to get rid of any tacky residues.
C’mon, everybody needs protective cover sometime! So there you have it, these babies are your defence mechanisms for bad hair days. Covering your kinky type 4 hair with wigs or extensions will shield your natural hair under there, keep them hydrated, stronger and also help them grow longer.
We just can’t seem to get over how wigs are a real blessing in disguise! You think so too? Go read up on Why You Should Choose Wigs For Afro Hair.
