Let’s be honest. Not many dads are well versed with hair. Moreso, their daughters’ hair. Unless the dad is a hairstylist. When you come across a dad, especially a black dad who knows how to care for and style their kids’ hair, we must applaud them. As Father’s Day is celebrated around the world on 21st June 2020, we would like to share the story of Michael Worthington, who lives in Dallas with his young daughter, Asia.
This father has mastered the art of styling his daughter’s hair. He does everything from a sleek bun with laid edges to cute braids and rubber bands. The man can lay some edges! It all started when Michael became a single parent. He was now thrust into the role of the sole caregiver and hairstylist in chief for his adorable daughter. This father-daughter duo has wormed its way into the heart of 1 million+ Instagram followers and going strong.
The devotion to caring for his daughter’s hair is admirable. The duo also shares their everyday lives and every aspect of his daughter’s growth. From dancing to posing to everything that a father-daughter relationship entails. Michael helps his daughter with skin care and down to things like picking her outfits!
Michael’s sole purpose is to inspire other fathers to be involved in their children’s lives as much as possible. Not only is this dad awesome, but he is also creative! Just check out this cool rubber band hairstyle he did on his Instagram page here.
Granted, all fathers are different and not all fathers are in ideal relationships with their children. Some fathers are better at other things than others. However, styling a child’s hair is all about patience and interest. It becomes fun once you get the hang of it.
Black Hair Hub would like to celebrate all dads for the role they play in our lives! They are our mentors, helpers, protectors, bank accounts, personal chauffeur and most importantly, they are our fathers. Happy father’s day to all dads! You are truly the best.
Post a photo of your dad on Instagram and use the hashtag #blackhairhub for the world to see your amazing dad!
