When it comes to box braids, there is so much to explore. Starting with parting styles. Did you know that the term ‘’box braids’’ is derived from the way the braids are parted? The individual braid is parted in a square section. However the box braid has evolved and new styles have come up. We’re giving you 6 funky ways to part your box braids. These may require lots of practice but you can eventually get the hang of it.
The diamond part is best done starting from the back of the head. One diamond section requires 4 diagonal lines. Proceed to feed in the braid as desired. This parting style can be done with different sizes.
This parting style is the diamond part’s younger sister. It requires 2 diagonal lines and one horizontal line. It can be done according to desired size and it can be done with twists or 3-strand braids or even faux locs.
This one requires time and the patience of a saint. The cross part also known as the plus + sign part, is for seasoned pros. It requires many parts to be made and it needs to be perfect. Failure to make perfect parts results in messy and undefined braids. If you get this right, this is a very creative way of parting braids! It will definitely get you compliments.
Who would have thought you could part braids in a circle? This style is relatively easy to do. It can also be done with any size. Definitely a must try!
And they keep getting more complicated. The zig-zag part is a tricky but stand-out parting method. Start from the back and create a zig-zag. Then follow up the rest of the hair with zig-zag parts. Looks like magic doesn’t it?
6. Square Part

1. Use a comb with thin teeth when parting, to ensure crisp, neat parts.
2. Once you part, use clips to keep hair out of the way for easier braiding.
3. Before braiding, use edge control at the base to make the hair look even neater.
4. Ensure to sleep with your hair wrapped at night to maintain the part design.
