We all like to style our hair in different ways, using different methods. But when it comes to heat styling tools, we know they can do a lot of damage! Yes, we get that these tools help straighten, curl or lend a certain shape to our hair, but the negative use of frequent heat styling lead to split ends, breakage, rough hair texture and dry hair that easily tangles. So ultimately causing your hair to get weak. And what better time than in lock down, to indulge in caring for your hair with these tips.
We already can’t wait to hear how much you loved ‘em!
BHH urges you to take a break from tools and really let your hair breathe. We are sure, you are already using this time to set a routine in place and that with nowhere to go, we hope your routine doesn’t include heating tools. Should you have to succumb to the occasional heat styling, be sure to prep your hair with a heat protecting product like (mention a heat protectant from our range) before going for that heated tool.
Going in for a protective style over heat styling, is another option. Better still, embrace the natural texture of your hair and work with it. Provide it with some nourishing care to hydrate and condition your hair. What we’re currently indulging in it the Afro Sheen Butter, Lush ‘FroButter, and have found it to really hydrate and protect natural hair whilst allowing us to style it as desired. The combination of Shea butter and coconut oil in this product really pack a powerful punch by strengthening the hair from with and keeping it moisturized all day long. Nearly 3 months into the lockdown and we haven’t gone anywhere close to our heat styling tools. That’s got to count for something.
Social distancing and isolation has also kept us away from our salons and spas. Here’s a quick fix tip to bring your spa experience to you at home. Pick any conditioner you have available on your bathroom shelves. We of course would recommend the Mega Growth Anti-Breakage Strengthening Deep Conditioner since we tried and tested it to deliver the desired results. It fortifies natural hair with a deep penetrating blend of natural minerals, oils, & proteins; creating long, healthy hair.
So after a usual shampoo to cleanse your hair and scalp, apply the conditioner liberally from the mid lengths to ends of your hair. Emulsifying the product from the tips of your ends, working your way up. You can even give yourself a relaxing scalp massage while at it using the tips of your fingers in a circular motion. This really gets the blood circulating and stimulates the scalp.
After this, take a hot towel and leave it on for 15-20 mins. Catch a cool episode or read a book as you patiently wait for the product to really penetrate the hair shaft. Rinse off with normal water (cold or lukewarm water over hot, always!) and leave it to air dry naturally.
To end this process with the best nourishment, we tried the African Pride Moisture Miracle Coconut Oil & Baobab Oil Leave-In Cream, and the results were amazing. This leave in cream is packed with the goodness of coconut oil and baobab oil that nourishes and hydrates the hair leaving it manageable.
You are going to love this ‘no heat styling’ mode and thank us for this hair re”treat”. Follow a good relaxed hair routine to make sure you are doing it the right way.
