We can’t have a list of work out favourite hairstyles, without putting out the quintessential bad ass braid – The Pigtail Cornrows, more commonly also referred to as the Dutch braid. Not only ‘cause it sounds healthy, but the Pineapple hairstyle is an obvious next choice on the list and does absolute justice when working with a natural afro. Pull all of your fro to the top of your head and secure it with an elastic band. Depending on the density of your curls and the texture of your hair, you can adjust the tightness of the band. A loose pineapple works best for wavy hair; but be sure to keep it secure enough to keep it from falling on your face and onto the treadmill.

Another braided version for the gym, this one’s not hard to get going. Part your hair neatly into two sections followed by an elementary 3-strand braid on each side. For ‘em super girls blessed with kinky hair – if you braid-up right, a cap, scarf or bandana works to not only keep your hair in place and protect and shield it, but also serves as a great cover if you’re having a bad hair day. Stylish cheats eh, well aren’t we full of them!

Generally marketed as active headbands and scarves, these pretty babies step in as quite the exercise accomplice for TWAs or short kinky hair. Wear it with a bun, with your hair down or with rudimentary braids. Either way, we bet they’ll make sure you stop at nothing! So, one thing’s certain, your hair’s out of the way, plus it protects your edges from frizz by absorbing the sweat.
We say why not?! If your workout’s your be-all and end-all, why shy away from getting a whole new look? Chop your hair off and with it, all the hassles of a hairstyle. Maximum style with minimum fuss! As low maintenance as it gets. Need we say more? Race, run, hustle or swim, you’ll dazzle all through!
